Hi Aksel! What does Carbonˣ do?
Carbonˣ helps corporate clients by de-risking the procurement of high-quality and permanent carbon removal credits via its carbon removal technologies pool.
Why is it going to change the world?
Through its activities, Carbonˣ aims to stimulate the CDR sector in order to rapidly accelerate and scale permanent carbon removal. In addition to decarbonizing our economies, permanently removing carbon from our atmosphere is of vital importance to limit the overall warming of our planet below the 1.5-degree threshold set forth by the Paris Agreement.
What led you to start the company?
Paolo Piffaretti and Sebastien Dewarrat, our co-founders, were frustrated with the ambiguity and lack of transparency around high-quality carbon credits. Moreover, they found there was limited access to such permanent carbon removal projects and credits. They founded Carbonˣ to help solve these problems and help corporate clients procure high-quality and permanent carbon removal credits.
Where do you go when you need advice?
Carbonˣ is fortunate to have a fantastic team of investors and advisors, with whom we touch base regularly to discuss all aspects of the company and overall climate sector!
What do you wish you could tell yourself at the beginning of the journey?
Remain patient, this is a marathon - sometimes our ambitions to move fast can get the best of us here at Carbonˣ.
What keeps you going through tough times?
Knowing that what we've set out to do will ultimately help everyone across our planet and, of course, our planet itself!
What’s the most exciting thing you’re working on right now?
We're in discussions with a variety of corporate organizations that have inspiring climate missions. Working with them to connect those missions to the CDR sector to rapidly scale permanent carbon removal is quite exciting for us!
What’s been your most memorable moment since founding the company?
We just announced our pre-seed funding round, and the feedback/messages we're receiving from all over the world are super encouraging! You can see more information about the announcement here.
How do you celebrate your wins?
Paolo, our CEO, is a fan of cider so we'll grab a glass of cider at the end of the day to unwind and share the latest win . . . or hopefully, two!
